Abstract
Magnetic molecules adsorbed on solid surfaces are emerging as promising candidates for advanced applications in quantum storage, quantum computing, and surface catalysis. Recent experimental breakthroughs, such as scanning tunneling microscopy-based electron spin resonance (STM-ESR) spectroscopy, enable precise characterization of intramolecular spin excitations and intermolecular spin interactions in these systems with unprecedented resolution (down to 10⁻⁶ eV). Accurate theoretical simulations are critical to understanding the underlying mechanisms behind these observations. However, simulating these systems remains challenging due to many-body correlation effects and the complex interplay between molecular spins and their surface environments. To address these challenges, we have developed advanced quantum statistical dynamics methods capable of accurately capturing the influence of environment on molecular spin states. By continuously enhancing the accuracy and energy resolution of our numerical approach, we have achieved first-principles-based simulations that accurately reproduce a range of recent experimental observations. This talk will highlight several examples illustrating the synergy between cutting-edge experiments and theoretical advancements, while also exploring future trends in these fields.
