Abstract
The University of Michigan has a long history in the field of optical spectroscopy and nonlinear optics, spanning over 100 years. I will present current research in the area of optical spectroscopy, with a focus on revealing and characterizing quantum properties of matter, that is being performed by the faculty in the newly formed Quantum Research Institute. I will review the basics of one of the key methods, multidimensional coherent spectroscopy (MDCS) and its use on various materials systems including transition metal dichalcogenides.
