Abstract
In this presentation i’ll survey the different scale up strategies for trapped ions QC - their strengths and weaknesses. I’ll move to describe a new scale up strategy that mitigates many of the difficulties encountered en route scaling. This approach uses spectral engineering that allows for the execution of multi-qubit, robust, gates and uses reconfigurable arrays of optical tweezer potentials that modify the phonon spectrum of the ion crystal.
