講演概要
Suppose we get a fault-tolerant universal quantum computer with an arbitrary number of logical qubits. Can we study QCD, then? In other words, is there a formulation of QCD that can be programmed on a quantum computer?

A standard approach is to replace the continuum space with a lattice and define a lattice Hamiltonian. A popular option for this purpose is the Kogut-Susskind (KS) Hamiltonian. But there is a big problem here: one still has to truncate the infinite-dimensional Hilbert space associated with bosons degrees of freedom (gauge field in this case), but such a truncation in the KS formulation is very complicated, and it is hard to write down the explicit form of the truncated Hamiltonian.

We show a simple alternative that resolves this issue: the orbifold lattice formulation. The Hamiltonian is much simpler, and it is almost trivial to write down the truncated Hamiltonian explicitly so that it can readily be put on a quantum computer.
