講演概要
In traditional quantum electrodynamics, we consider systems where atoms are approximated as point-like compared to the wavelength of the light that they are interacting with. However, recent experiments have shown that we are able to ignore this approximation and realize so-called giant atoms, which can be formed by coupling artificial atoms to a waveguide at multiple locations that are wavelengths apart. Giant atoms offer several distinctive advantages over traditional cavity QED systems, such as a longer coherence time and robust quantum manipulation. Giant atom systems can have an important role in quantum simulation and quantum information processing tasks. In this talk, I will introduce some fundamental concepts for giant atoms and connect them to quantum control of open systems. A simple model will be considered to illustrate these ideas.
