Abstract
Rydberg physics is nearly as old as atomic physics. However, modern Rydberg physics has not just evolved, it is now revolutionarily different. I will delve into several different ways, Rydberg 2.0 has become indispensable for studies of few-body and many-body low-energy quantum physics, quantum information, and quantum simulation. The exquisite ability to control Rydberg excitations and engineer isotropic and anisotropic long-range interactions in ultra-cold atoms (and molecules) has brought about the sea change that is witnessed today.
