Abstract
Quantum processors based on superconducting qubits increasingly rely on strong microwave drives to enable fast entangling gates, high-fidelity readout, and autonomous state stabilization. In my talk, I will present experimental data and numerical predictions showing that these drivescan, however, push qubit systems across a critical threshold beyond which excitations proliferate and impede coherent control. I will discuss how branch analysis and Floquet spectra can be used as valuable (though imperfect) diagnostics in the design of quantum processors.
